What We Build In Oakland Park

The Right Lift For The Water You Have.

Oakland Park’s canals vary in width, and the code measures them at their shortest point next to your property. That makes the site survey the first step, not the last. We confirm the envelope, then choose the lift, dock and seawall scope that fit it.

Lifts, pilings and the boat on them, fitted inside the 25% mooring envelope.

Docks held to the city’s separate 10% or 15-ft limit and planned around the lift.

Seawall repair and replacement under Oakland Park’s Chapter 14 standard.

Six-month service for cables, motors, bunks, pilings and electrical, documented every visit.

Oakland Park Boat Lift Setbacks & Waterway Projection

Oakland Park defines a boat lift as a mooring structure. Under City Code Sections 14-5 and 14-6, the total area used for mooring may not exceed 25% of the waterway width, measured at its shortest dimension next to the property. At least 50% of the waterway must stay open for navigation.

How to read the table below

SetbackThe strip along each side property line, extended out into the water, where the lift and boat cannot go.
ProjectionHow far the lift and the raised boat reach out from your seawall or property line into the waterway.
CenterlineAn imaginary line down the middle of the canal. Some cities make your lift and boat stay a set distance back from it so other boats can pass.
Zoning districtThe city’s category for your lot, such as RS-8. It sets your side setback. We look it up for your address.
Your situationThe ruleWhat it means for you
Canals narrower than 50 ftNo new docks or liftsThe city code (Sec. 14-5) does not allow a new lift or mooring structure here.
The lift plus your boatUp to 25% of the canal’s widthThe lift, its pilings and your boat all need to fit inside this distance from shore.
Lift pilingsUp to 25% of the canal’s widthNo piling can go past this line.
A dock, if you add one10% of the width or 15 ft, whichever is lessThe dock has its own, smaller limit.
Open water for other boatsAt least half the canalYour whole layout has to leave at least 50% of the canal open.
Space from your neighborsYour zoning district’s side yardTypically 7.5 ft on R-1 and R-2 lots, or 5 ft if the lot is under 60 ft wide. We confirm your zoning.

Show The Boat, Not Just The Lift

The lift and the intended vessel, not just a lift component or its pilings, should be drawn inside the 25% mooring envelope. Side setbacks are separate: Section 14-6 imports your zoning district's side yard, and a superior agency may require more.

Before Anything Gets Ordered

What Your Site Plan Must Show.

Oakland Park reviewers look for these items on every lift plan. We put each one on paper during your consultation, so the design you approve is the design that gets permitted.

01

Narrowest Width

Shortest adjacent waterway width.

02

Side Lines

Both side property lines, extended waterward.

03

Zoning

Property zoning and required side yards.

04

Outer Edge

The outermost lift edge.

05

Every Piling

All lift pilings, dimensioned.

06

Lift + Boat

Complete lift and intended vessel outline.

07

Open Water

The remaining 50% navigation opening.

08

Water Depth

Depths at the lift and along the approach.

The Permit Path

Every Agency, Handled In-House.

A waterfront project in Oakland Park may require approvals at the city, county, state and federal level, plus HOA or condominium sign-off where it applies. The path depends on your footprint and the environmental conditions at your shoreline. We map it before we quote, and we manage it through final inspection. The boat lift buyer FAQs explain each agency’s role.

City Of Oakland Park

Building, zoning, engineering and electrical approvals, as the project requires.

Broward County

Environmental review of work in, over and next to surface waters, including lifts and pilings.

Florida DEP

Authorization or exemption verification. A state exemption does not cancel local permits.

U.S. Army Corps

Work in navigable waters can require Section 10 authorization. Some minor lifts qualify for a general permit.

Measure First. Buy The Lift Second.

A lift can have the capacity and still be the wrong physical or legal fit. We confirm projection, side lines, water depth and the permit path before we recommend equipment.

Our Process

A Process Built On Precision & Principles.

The same four steps on every Oakland Park project, from the first site visit to the service calls that keep your lift running.

01

Consultation & Design

We review your boat, your waterfront, and the code for your address, then design the lift or dock around all three.

02

Permitting & Project Prep

We prepare the plans and handle the permit path end to end, so nothing gets built before it is approved.

03

Construction & Installation

Our own in-house crew builds it. No subcontractors, no hand-offs.

04

Support & Maintenance

Twice-yearly service keeps your lift running and your warranty records documented.

Seawalls & Shoreline

Your Lift Is Only As Solid As The Wall Behind It.

Broward’s regional resiliency standard sets a minimum tidal flood barrier elevation of 5 feet NAVD88 when a seawall or seawall cap is newly constructed or substantially repaired or rehabilitated, or 4 feet for applications filed before January 1, 2035 that are engineered to reach 5 feet by January 1, 2050. Each municipality adopts and enforces it locally; Oakland Park’s version is in Chapter 14 of the City Code (Ord. O-2022-015).

A new lift or dock does not automatically trigger a seawall upgrade. Whether it does depends on the scope of the work and the ordinance for your address. We check your wall’s condition and elevation while we are already on site, so there are no surprises after the permit is filed.
