From the Intracoastal to the Hillsboro Canal, Deerfield Beach counts the dock, the lift and the stored boat against one limit. Designing them separately wastes feet you cannot get back. We plan them as one project from the first site visit.
Lifts sized to your loaded boat and fitted inside the 25% total envelope.
Docks designed to leave room for the lift and boat that share the same limit.
Seawall repair and replacement, with the governing elevation confirmed for your address.
Six-month service for cables, motors, bunks, pilings and electrical, documented every visit.
“Marc and his team were communicative, professional, and informative throughout the whole process for my lift. The price was great, and the whole process was surprisingly seamless and stress free. I would recommend to anyone looking for a boat lift or dock.”

Deerfield Beach regulates lifts under Land Development Code Section 98-87, Docking and Mooring Facilities. Add the dock, the lift or mooring structure and the vessel at their farthest waterward point: together they may not exceed 25% of waterbody width, and navigation may never be impeded.
How to read the table below
| Your situation | The rule | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| How far out everything can reach | 25% of the canal’s width, all together | Add up the dock, the lift and the raised boat at their farthest point. Together they can reach 25% of the canal’s width. |
| Lots with less than 100 ft on the water | 1 lift, kept 10 ft from each side line | Deerfield Beach measures from bisecting lines the city sets between lots, not straight extensions of your lot lines. |
| Lots with 100 ft or more on the water | Up to 2 lifts, each 25 ft from the side lines | Measured the same way, from the city’s bisecting lines. |
| On the Intracoastal | 25% of the width or 30 ft, whichever is less | A tighter cap on the Intracoastal. Other agencies can limit it further. |
| A dock on its own | 5 ft from the side lines | The dock can come within 5 ft of the side line. The lift needs 10 or 25 ft. |
| Mangroves or a natural shoreline | A special layout; docks limited to 20% | The city prefers a straight, T- or L-shaped dock, and environmental review may decide the layout. |
Waterbody width is measured laterally at the proposed structure, seawall to seawall where both shores have walls. Side setbacks use code-defined bisecting lines, so angled lots, canal ends and irregular shorelines should have those lines set by a surveyor or the City.
| Waterbody width | 25% maximum | Example application |
|---|---|---|
| 40 ft | 10 ft | Total dock + lift + vessel projection 10 ft or less |
| 60 ft | 15 ft | Total projection 15 ft or less |
| 80 ft | 20 ft | Total projection 20 ft or less |
| 100 ft | 25 ft | Total projection 25 ft or less |
| 120 ft | 30 ft | Total projection 30 ft or less |
| 160 ft | 40 ft | 40 ft generally; the Intracoastal cap is 30 ft |
Deerfield Beach reviewers look for these items on every lift plan. We put each one on paper during your consultation, so the design you approve is the design that gets permitted.
Waterfront frontage, which sets lift count and setback.
Waterbody width at the lift location.
Seawall or shoreline measurement point.
Both bisecting lines, set by survey.
Dock, lift and every piling.
Vessel length and beam in the raised position.
The combined waterward envelope, dimensioned.
A waterfront project in Deerfield Beach may require approvals at the city, county, state and federal level, plus HOA or condominium sign-off where it applies. The path depends on your footprint and the environmental conditions at your shoreline. We map it before we quote, and we manage it through final inspection. The boat lift buyer FAQs explain each agency’s role.
Building, zoning, engineering and electrical approvals, as the project requires.
Environmental review of work in, over and next to surface waters, including lifts and pilings.
Authorization or exemption verification. A state exemption does not cancel local permits.
Work in navigable waters can require Section 10 authorization. Some minor lifts qualify for a general permit.
A lift can have the capacity and still be the wrong physical or legal fit. We confirm projection, side lines, water depth and the permit path before we recommend equipment.
Family-owned and operated in South Florida.
In-house installation. No subcontractors, no hand-offs.
Every installation backed by our Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee.
We install Neptune Boat Lifts, built for saltwater.
The same four steps on every Deerfield Beach project, from the first site visit to the service calls that keep your lift running.
We review your boat, your waterfront, and the code for your address, then design the lift or dock around all three.
We prepare the plans and handle the permit path end to end, so nothing gets built before it is approved.
Our own in-house crew builds it. No subcontractors, no hand-offs.
Twice-yearly service keeps your lift running and your warranty records documented.
Broward’s regional resiliency standard sets a minimum tidal flood barrier elevation of 5 feet NAVD88 when a seawall or seawall cap is newly constructed or substantially repaired or rehabilitated, or 4 feet for applications filed before January 1, 2035 that are engineered to reach 5 feet by January 1, 2050. Each municipality adopts and enforces it locally. We confirm the ordinance that governs your Deerfield Beach address before we design.
A new lift or dock does not automatically trigger a seawall upgrade. Whether it does depends on the scope of the work and the ordinance for your address. We check your wall’s condition and elevation while we are already on site, so there are no surprises after the permit is filed.
The dock, the lift and the stored boat together may not exceed 25% of the waterbody width, measured to the farthest waterward point. On the Intracoastal the limit is 25% or 30 ft, whichever is less.
10 ft from the bisecting lines when waterfront frontage is under 100 ft, and 25 ft when frontage is 100 ft or more. The dock alone has a separate 5-ft side setback.
One lift on frontage under 100 ft. Up to two lifts on frontage of 100 ft or more, each at least 25 ft from the bisecting lines.
Plan them together. Because the dock, lift and vessel share one 25% envelope, a dock designed alone can use up the room the lift needs.
Centerline clearance sets the practical projection limit.
