Key Takeaways
2026 Planning Ranges

Typical South Florida Dock Price Ranges.

Broad South Florida planning figures for early budgeting, not Boat Lift Installers LLC prices or guarantees. A written proposal must define exactly what is included.

ProjectPlanning rangeTypical scope
Redeck only$8,000 to $20,000New decking on verified sound framing and pilings. Repairs and hidden deterioration are additional.
Small residential dock$20,000 to $40,000Protected canal, basic configuration, standard depth and access, typical marine materials.
Mid-size residential dock$40,000 to $75,000More width, length and pilings; may include a finger pier, T-head, blocking or basic electrical.
Large / Intracoastal dock$75,000 to $150,000+Deep water, larger structure, barge access, premium materials, complex layout or multi-agency review.
Commercial / marina$150,000+Engineered heavy-duty construction, higher loads, utilities, accessibility and complex approvals.

What May Sit Outside The Range

Demolition, pile removal, unusually deep or numerous pilings, structural engineering, surveys, permits, environmental review, seawall repair, dredging, cranes or barges, electrical service, plumbing, railings, stairs, gates, lighting, lifts, canopies, custom fabrication and difficult access may be separate or move the project higher.

Compare Complete Scope, Not One Headline Number.

Ask whether each proposal includes design, pilings, framing, decking, fascia, hardware, demolition, disposal, permits, inspections, electrical, access equipment, warranty and restoration. A lower square-foot number can leave out the most expensive parts.

What Drives The Price

The Structure Sets The Budget. The Surface Finishes It.

Length, width, shape, finger piers, platforms, how you use the boat, lift integration and design loads determine the structure required. Pilings and access usually matter more than any decking upgrade.

Dock framing and joists over pilings before decking, built by Boat Lift Installers

Size, Use & Foundation

What holds the dock up.

  • Piling quantity, length, embedment, bottom conditions, water depth, wake exposure and seawall condition
  • Barges, cranes, narrow canals, bridge clearance, overhead wires and restricted staging affect access and labor
  • Existing framing and pilings must be inspected before they are priced for reuse

Framing, Decking & Details

What you see and walk on.

  • Pressure-treated wood usually costs less up front; composite and PVC cost more but need less routine finishing
  • Spans, joist spacing, blocking, fasteners, fascia, curves, board direction and manufacturer requirements affect material and labor
  • Cleats, ladders, railings, utilities, lighting and future lift support should be planned before construction

Material Prices Are Not Complete Dock Prices

Published decking figures do not include pilings, framing, demolition, engineering, permits, access, utilities or site restoration. Send a survey, dimensions, vessel and lift information, photos and a wish list for useful budgeting.

Dock Add-Ons

Add-Ons That Change The Final Price.

Plan accessories before construction so backing, conduit and equipment locations are built in, not retrofitted.

Mooring, Protection & Access

How the boat ties up and how you get aboard.

  • Cleats: quantity, size, placement and structural backing matched to the vessel and mooring plan
  • Bumpers and fenders: type and position depend on hull height, tide range and dock geometry
  • Ladders: fixed, flip-up and retractable models vary by material, length and mounting
  • Piling caps, guides and boxes: better function or appearance, with added finish labor and material

Power, Lighting & Boat Lifts

What runs on the dock.

  • Power pedestals: shore power, outlets, water and controls; conduit runs and panel capacity affect cost
  • Outlets and lighting: circuits, voltage, fixtures, switching, trenching and transformers belong in the scope
  • Boat lift power: motors, disconnects, controls, remotes, limit switches, grounding and bonding, coordinated early
  • Future-ready work: sleeves, conduit, pull strings and blocking reduce later demolition

Price The Add-Ons With The Original Dock.

We coordinate cleats, bumpers, ladders, piling finishes, pedestals, lighting, outlets and boat lift integration before construction. Waterfront electrical needs code-compliant equipment, grounding, bonding, ground-fault protection and a disconnect.

Permits & Site Conditions

Never Assume A Replacement Needs No Permit.

Municipal setbacks and projection limits, surveys, HOA requirements, navigation clearance, environmental review, agency permits, water depth, bridge clearance, barge or crane access, staging and debris removal can all affect feasibility, timing and price. Same-location replacement still needs the right authorization. See setback rules by city.

Maintenance Protects The Investment.

We recommend professional dock and piling inspection every six months and after storms, impacts, unusual movement or electrical events. Dated photos and a documented service history help support material, factory and contractor installation warranties, subject to their written terms.

FAQ

Dock Cost Questions

Published regional figures place many new residential docks around $20,000 to $75,000. Large Intracoastal, deep-water, premium or custom docks can reach $75,000 to $150,000+.

Simple redecking may start near $8,000 and commonly runs up to about $20,000, provided the framing and pilings are verified sound. Hidden deterioration and repairs are additional.

Composite and PVC cost more up front than pressure-treated wood but need less routine finishing. Either way, the decking is only as good as the framing and pilings under it.

Usually, yes. Planning lift support, power and piling layout with the dock avoids reopening the structure later, and in some cities the dock, lift and boat share one projection limit.
